Life in the Car, a Photoessay

Living in my car has been an incredible and unique experience.

Hydration is important and it can be days before I find another place to refill my supply. Water bottles take up a large amount of space in the passenger side footwell. Rather than actual water bottles, I use an assortment of repurposed other bottles. Reduce, reuse, recycle baby!

Also in the passenger footwell is a box of assorted snacks, although they end up in the passenger seat as I snack n' drive. My favorite snack is fruit because it's sweet, fulfilling and healthy. I love buying from fruit stalls and honey stands on the roadside. Also, yes that is falafel mix. I didn't realize it wasn't hummus until too late so I just ate it with chips.
Snackies!

Food for the mind: a collection of books read and yet to be read, as well as a journal in Spanish and a journal in English. The 'roam' journal will encompass most of my time in New Zealand, although I'm running out of room to write. My least favorite book in this stack was Eat Pray Love, even though everyone raves about it and it got a movie.

Usually scattered across the car, pictured is a random assortment of useful items. The map was given to me by a thoughtful friend who knew that reception is very bad at times in the South Island. We spent time looking over it together and he marked must-sees along my journey.
Daily use items.

And finally - a pile of clean-ish clothes.
